Whilse the Datsun 280ZX (S130 model) saw a reasonable degree of success on the British market, unfortunately we were never blessed with the turbocharged version. Road and Track magazine found the car much to their liking, in this road test from May 1981, and despite its automatic gearbox, the 280ZX-T puts downs some impressive performance figures for its day. They mention that the car was only available with an auto, but this only applied to the 1981 model year, primarily due to Nissan’s concerns about the strength of their 5 speed manual. From 1982 a manual became available which was a Borg Warner T5 gearbox.
