Bob Bondurant conceived the idea of a high performance driving school whilst recuperating after sustaining serious injuries as the result of a colossal crash in a Mclaren at Watkins Glen in 1967. The ‘Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving’ opened at Orange County Raceway in California the following year with a few cars supplied by Datsun, including a 510 and a couple of roadsters. Nissan were quick to make the most of the connection with ads such as the one below. They continued to supply cars to Bondurant’s Driving School until 1976.
