The M10 model Nissan Prairie is one of the last models to arrive onto the UK market still wearing a Datsun badge. It’s truly a forgotten pioneer of the ‘minivan’ or mini MPV genre, which became so popular. Most people don’t realise that the Prairie hit the market a year before the Chrysler Caravan, a car often touted as being the first modern MPV. It was also available in Japan as a true 7 or 8 seater and was remarkably versatile. The UK only received a small number of versions, the early 1.5GL, then the 1.8SGL and eventually the higher spec Anniversary II.
